Frequently asked questions

Questions families ask before reaching out

Looking for a private rehab in Sabah raises a lot of questions. Here are honest answers to the ones we hear most. If yours is not here, please ask us directly — every conversation is confidential.

Where is Eden Renewal Centre located?

We are a private recovery villa in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. For the privacy of our residents we share the exact address only after a confidential conversation and pre-admission assessment.

What addictions do you treat?

We support adults with substance addiction (alcohol, methamphetamine, heroin and opioids, cocaine, cannabis, prescription misuse and polysubstance) and behavioural addiction (gambling, gaming, internet and social media, pornography, sex and relationship, and compulsive spending).

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is built into every conversation and process at Eden Renewal Centre. Your personal data is handled in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) of Malaysia and, where applicable, the GDPR. We never sell or share your information without your consent.

How do I start the admissions process?

Reach out by phone, WhatsApp or email. We begin with a confidential conversation, then schedule a pre-admission assessment at your pace with no pressure to commit. You will usually have a clear, honest answer within 24 hours of your assessment.

How long is a typical stay?

Length of stay depends on each person's needs and assessment. Recovery is not one-size-fits-all; our coaches will recommend a plan with you once they understand your situation. We can discuss realistic timelines before you commit to anything.

What treatment approach do you use?

Our programme follows a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual approach — treating the whole person, not only the addiction. It combines CBT, motivational interviewing, individual and group therapy, 12-Step principles, mindfulness, recovery coaching and structured daily living.

Are your coaches qualified?

Our coaches and professionals bring real professional training alongside something textbooks cannot teach: many have lived experience of recovery themselves. They have walked the same road, so they understand addiction from the inside out.

Can family visit or stay in contact?

Family connection is an important part of recovery. We support appropriate family contact and can arrange visits at the right stage of each resident's plan. We are happy to talk through what this looks like for your situation.

Do you support adults and teens?

Yes. We offer mental health and addiction support for both adults and teens, including one-to-one counselling. Support is tailored to age, circumstances and need.

What should I bring to stay?

A suggested packing list is shared once your assessment is complete and a stay is agreed. In general, comfortable everyday clothing, toiletries and any prescribed medication in its original packaging are a good starting point.

What does it cost?

We share programme details and any relevant information during your confidential consultation, so you have a clear, honest picture before making any decision. Please reach out and we will be glad to talk it through.

Is this the right place for someone in crisis right now?

If someone is in immediate medical danger or at acute risk of harm, please contact your local emergency services first. For everything else, reach out and we will help you understand whether Eden is the right fit — and if not, point you toward appropriate help.

Still have a question?

We are glad to answer it personally — no pressure, no judgement.
